In this activity learners will drop water balloons from various heights and measure splatter area to correlate Potential Energy Vs Height. The size of splatter area will approximately correlate to the splatter area when a water balloon bursts. They will also practice taking accurate measurements, recording data and figure a standard way of measuring the splatter area, given that there will be some nuances there. For example, the area may not be uniform, may not be a regular shape and might evaporate quickly. More importantly, who doesn’t enjoy throwing water balloons!!
Learning Objective(s)
Scholastic: Learners will measure the change in potential energy with respect to height
Skills: Experiment, data collection, data analysis
Materials Needed
