Mirages (Car travel activity)

Here is another interesting activity that can be conducted on a hot, dry day during a car travel. We tend to see mirages during a drive on such a day and a good way to explore it with children would be to involve a measurement of duration during which mirage of a fixed object becomes visible and then subsequently disappears. Now it is unlikely there will be fixed objects in the middle of the road that can used for observation. So we will need to improvise and use objects that are on the roadside and observe the mirage that is near or in relation to the object. Not a very cut and dry activity, but lot of scope for improvisation, hence usage of higher order thinking skills.
