In this activity learners will use the movement of a vehicle like train or car to explore how multiplication of negative integers work. The idea is to make use of two different dimensions that can be represented by signs. For example, direction where plus and minus indicate right or left and movement, where plus and minus indicate forward or reverse. Now the combination of these two signs along with a number will give different positions on the number line, depending on the signs. A game based on this idea allows the learners to explore multiplication of negative integers.
